What Happened Between Salman Khan and AR Murugadoss
After Sikandar failed to perform as expected at the box office, director AR Murugadoss spoke openly about the reasons behind the film’s disappointment.
In an interview with Tamil media outlet Valaipechu Voice, Murugadoss mentioned that it was “not easy to shoot with a star,” alleging that Salman often reached the set around 8 PM.
According to him, this affected the production schedule. Even day scenes had to be filmed late at night, making it hard for the team — especially child actors — to keep up with the timings. Murugadoss also admitted that though Sikandar had an emotional storyline, he “could not execute it well.”
Salman’s Response on Bigg Boss 19
During Weekend Ka Vaar, comedian Ravi Gupta asked Salman if there were any films he regretted doing. Salman humorously mentioned Suryavanshi (1992) and Nishchay (1992) but said he didn’t regret doing any of his recent films — not even Sikandar.
He said,
“Log kehte hain Sikandar par main nahi manta, uska plot bahut acha tha.”
(“People say it could be Sikandar, but I don’t agree — the plot was good.”)
Salman then addressed Murugadoss’s comments directly, joking,
“Main raat ke 9 baje set pe pahuchta tha, meri pasaliyan tooti thi… aur director sahab keh rahe the unka actor 6 baje pahuchta tha.”
(“I used to reach the set by 9 PM — my ribs were broken — and our director said his actor reached at 6 PM.”)
He further took a light-hearted dig at Murugadoss’s recent South film, Madharaasi, saying it was a “bigger blockbuster than Sikandar” with a smile — clearly hinting at the sarcasm.

The Director’s Side of the Story
Murugadoss’s comments were not meant to attack Salman personally, but his tone sparked controversy. He said working with megastars in Bollywood was “different from the South,” explaining that shooting schedules often changed due to the star system.
Still, his statement — that even scenes with school kids were shot at 2 AM — became viral on social media, fueling debates about professionalism and discipline on big-budget film sets.
About Sikandar: What Went Wrong
Released with huge expectations, Sikandar starred Salman Khan as Sanjay Rajkot, a powerful man who sets out to protect three people in Mumbai who received organ transplants from his late wife, played by Rashmika Mandanna.
Despite its emotional plot, high-octane action, and a ₹200-crore budget, the film earned around ₹185 crore worldwide — falling short of expectations. Critics called it “Salman’s weakest film,” though the actor maintained that the story was meaningful and heartfelt.
Salman’s Upcoming Projects
The superstar is now focusing on his upcoming war drama The Battle of Galwan, which is currently under production. At the same time, he continues hosting Bigg Boss Season 19, where his candid and humorous takes often make headlines.
Apart from this, reports suggest that Salman is in talks for several large-scale action projects, reaffirming his stronghold as one of Bollywood’s biggest crowd-pullers
