The murder took place inside their family home in Sector 57, Gurugram, at a time when Radhika was preparing a meal for her mother, Manju Yadav, on her birthday.

While Radhika was cooking, Deepak Yadav allegedly walked into the kitchen and fired three bullets at her from behind using his licensed .32 bore revolver. Deepak had allegedly asked Radhika multiple times to shut down her tennis academy, which she had founded after a shoulder injury ended her professional playing career. Radhika, however, continued coaching young players, believing in her passion for tennis and her students.

Unable to cope with the “insults” and feeling that his authority as a father was undermined, Deepak said he shot his daughter in a moment of rage.
